Youth Mobility visa UK from India

Youth Mobility Scheme is a new immigration route for the young adults from different countries who intend to experience the life and culture in the United Kingdom. It is a scheme in which an applicant aged 18-30 can stay and work in the UK for a good 2 years of time period.

It is going to replace the existing route T5 (Temporary Worker) and applicants can start placing their applications for this visa program. Indian applicants will be eligible to apply for this visa effective 1st Jan’2022. Applicants can though start forwarding their applications and their decision will be made according to the Immigration Rules in force on 31 December 2021.

Immigrants under this route can seek the employment during this tenure and work without a sponsorship. Certain limitations to this route are that migrants cannot bring in their dependents along with them and they can opt for a right to settlement. However, within the 2 years of time period they have a chance to get a sponsorship for Skilled Worker Visa and switch the route.

• Applicant must be aged between 18 and 30 at the time of making an application.
• Applicant must have a valid citizenship from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Japan, Monaco, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea, San Marino
• Applicant must be a British Overseas citizen, British Overseas Territories citizen or British National (Overseas).
• Applicants from India must have at least a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years professional work experience from a Skilled Occupations list counted in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-skilled-occupations
• Applicant must have funds of £2,530 in the form of Savings or Fixed deposit for a period of 28 days within the 31 days of the application.
• Applicant must not have any children under an age of 18 living along with or financially dependent on him/her.
• Applicant must not have previously entered in the UK on the Youth Mobility Scheme route.
• Applicant will have to pay the visa application fee and IHS at the time of Visa application along with required Biometric information.
• Applicant must have taken a tuberculosis test from the country where he/she has to take the test.
• Applicant must not have any visa refusal under the general grounds for refusal.

• Visa fees – Currently £244.
• Immigration Health Surcharge – Currently £1248.

Every year the UK home office allocates a certain amount of migrants allowed to travel from migrating countries. Below is the number of migrants from the participating countries and territories allowed under the Youth Mobility Scheme.

• Applicant with a successful visa grant under Youth Mobility scheme can enter and remain in the UK for a period of up to 2 years.
• Migrant under this visa can enter and leave the UK any time. If he/she turns 31 during that period, applicant still stay till his/her visa is valid.

Applicant cannot request an admin review if the visa is refused under Youth Mobility Scheme.

• Applicant with a valid visa under Youth Mobility Scheme will have no access to public funds.
• Applicant is allowed to work as any professional except a Sportsperson or Sports Coach.
• Applicant can be self-employed with a condition that he/she does not have any employees and hold an equipment not more than £5000 for the business and does not carry own premised except his/her home.

An applicant is allowed to switch to another immigration route such as Skilled Worker Visa and Start Up route before his/her Youth Mobility Scheme visa (T5) expires. Within the UK.
